Sometime on March 31, Drexel University law professor Lisa McElroy emailed her students a link to a pornographic video — an event that has since resulted in school officials announcing an internal investigation on Monday. But before all this hubbub happened, it appears that McElroy just really wanted to be a millionaire. Or, at least enough to have appeared on Who Wants to be a Millionaire in 2010. McElroy joined then-host Meredith Vieira in January 2010 to compete on the show, initially coming out of the gate strong and confident in the lower-value questions. However, her trouble started relatively quickly, with the Drexel prof using two lifelines on a $12,500 question: As a result of General Motor’s bankruptcy declaration in 2009, what foreign government became one of its largest shareholders? Sadly for McElroy, her “Ask the Expert” pairing, former CNN anchor Erica Hill, and her lifeline gave the wrong answer and was eliminated. The correct answer is Canada — not China. Following the wrong answer, McElroy ended up leaving the show with $5,000 in winnings. Which isn’t too bad, all things considered.
So it turns out the pornog professor was a chick. My brain just jumps to a male figure whenever I hear titles denoting power like Professor or Doctor or Judge because I am sexist and probably correct, statistically speaking. The whole porn thing also made me assume it was a guy. The fact that someone made a stupid technical mistake should have tipped me off it was a woman though, so this one’s on me.
This changes everything. No one wants to think about this lady touching herself. She may have been alright in her day but she couldn’t be more of a mom now. Pant suit city. It reminds me of when I worked at a bookstore when 50 Shades of Grey came out. There were so many gross middle aged women who would come in looking for it with absolutely no shame. I don’t want think about some saggy 40 year old with 3 kids flicking her bean while reading about some rich guy tying some chick up. Have some class and sneakily buy it with a bunch of magazine like a teenage boy buying condoms for the first time.
This lady is a complete idiot. Not because she mixed up her links and let her class know she wants to be taken from behind by Randy Quaid wearing a Rupert Murdoch mask:
that’s a simple mix up. But she went on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and only won $5,000.
That’s just pathetic. I wouldn’t be able to respect a professor who did that poorly on a trivia game show.
